In the Capital Region, Ellen Sax has been synonymous with corporate philanthropy for more than 20 years. Most recently she served as Vice President of Community Engagement at MVP Health Care where she developed and implemented MVP’s philanthropic focus, overseeing millions of dollars in charitable giving.

Ellen was also responsible for expanding MVP's presence in the community through employee engagement and partnerships with nonprofit organizations and community groups. She held a similar role at KeyBank prior to joining the health insurance.

As a consultant, Ellen will work with CMO for Hire clients to guide the development of philanthropic giving programs and foundations and will be instrumental in connecting businesses with non-profit organizations for the betterment and growth of the Capital Region.

Community

Ellen participates in a number of community endeavors including board chair of the B’nai B’rith Gideon Foundation, Trustee for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (CCF) Upstate Northeastern NY Chapter, Co-chair of the Corporate Division for Ellis Medicine’s capital campaign, committee member for the CCFA Evening to Remember Gala and serves on the Board Emeriti of the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region. In addition, Ellen serves on the Berkshire Bank Capital Region Advisory Council. Most recently, Ellen is serving on the Whitney M Young Capital Campaign and served as the Honorary Chair for SUNY Schenectady’s annual Food for Thought and All That Jazz.

Education and Awards

Ellen holds a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, both from Syracuse University, where she also received her undergraduate degree.

Ellen has received a number of awards for her community service including Women Against MS Community Achievement Award, Women in Public Service -- Center for Women in Government & Civil Society, The Stakeholders Community Mentor Award, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Inspirational Leadership Award, Trinity Alliance Community Champion Award, Arts Center of the Capital Region Creative Spirit Award,  Women’s Employment Resources Center (WERC) Pearls of Wisdom Award, HATAS (Homeless & Travelers Aid Society) Champion of Compassion Award, Saratoga Chamber of Commerce Impact Sector Volunteer of the Year, American Red Cross Honorary Chair Award, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Chair’s Citation Award with her husband Patrick Greene and, along with MVP Health Care, received the Outstanding Philanthropist Award from Hudson Valley Community College.
